While watching Super Soul Sunday on OWN, I heard the most interesting description of stress: "Stress is wishing the moment you are in were something different." Wow! That resonated with me and I had to pause and give it thought. Stress is wishing the moment you are in were something different. That made so much sense to me. I had to sit with that statement for a moment and truly give it thought.
When we are experiencing stress that is exactly what we are wishing for. We so much want that situation to be gone...to be done...to be finished. Well, when we view it from that angle we can see that it is up to us to change our pattern of thinking and be in the moment that we are in. That moment can be the worst moment of our lives, however, the moment is upon us and we are hoping against all hope that it would disappear. For those of us who have lived long enough, we realize, that isn't going to happen. The stress will remain until WE HAVE RESOLVED or PUT TO REST the worry and fear surrounding the situation. That is a very challenging thing to do especially when the situation appears unbearable.
Hold on!! This too shall pass. Hold on!! Help is on the way!! Hold on!! You HAVE NEVER BEEN NOR WILL YOU EVER BE ALONE! Hold On!!
Yes, it may appear that this stress is or has overtaken our lives, however, it hasn't and it never will. We all move through our trials and tribulations. We all move through the sections of our journey that we wish would fade like a dream. Sometimes it fades, however, most times it simply stops hurting as much as it once did and becomes manageable.
I believe that is the key. The key it seems is to be able to recognize the pain we are in, the sadness we feel and the hurt that is a constant companion and MANAGE IT. Quite possibly if we manage it and understand that it is a part of the process...just maybe the stress will depart from our souls more quickly. I don't have an answer...do you?
