Galatians 6:9 "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
My reason for choosing 'Never Giving Up' is that yesterday, I was out of my head with frustration over a computer issue. Something that I thought should have taken a few moments; lasted for 12 hours! I was beside myself and on more than one occasion, I considered giving up on trying to solve the issue and shutting down my project.
It's interesting when you are trying to solve a problem and you continually face obstacles and sometimes it seems too much to continue to move forward. That's when those thoughts enter your mind and you think "That's it. I'm done with this. I cannot solve this."
What is interesting about this feeling is "Give Up" which is always ready to move swiftly sits patiently waiting for you to do just that. That is the reason for the "Give Up Department". It knows that frustration will lead some to follow "Give Up" and for that "Give Up" is grateful. After all; that is its job and one cannot fault "Give Up" if its so insistent. It like us wants to say to itself "job well done."
I was very close to joining "Give Up" yesterday. As a matter of fact I was in their Admissions Department when I came to my senses. It was very crowded in there. Just before my name was called, I realized that this was my test to see if I would practice what I preached. If I would withstand the barrage of negative thinking that was attacking full force. If I would turn, run and then regret further down my path that I was acting as if I was a coward.
It is so easy for us when things are perfect that our faith and steadfastness are so strong. However, what I learned again yesterday was that I have "aways" to go before my name is off of the "Give Up Department" list. I learned that I still grow weary and that I falter. I learned that while I may have planned to the tenth degree what should or should not happen; life continually happens and my responsibility is to understand what is happening and DEAL WITH IT! Deal with it in the manner of a true believer and that is by understanding that it is merely a lesson for my growth and awareness. Life is a classroom and yes we do get tested!
Galatians 6:9 says it all. We will reap in due season. And while we may grow weary, the main point is that we NEVER GIVE UP. Because if we give up, the department of Giving Up looks like the DMV. The lines are long, the service sketchy and all of us who are there have no one to blame but ourselves. I learned at a deeper level yesterday, the Giving Up Department is not where I want to be! So each time we think of giving up; picture the DMV!
Until the next time,
-Peaceful thoughts,
Dorothea
