Fourteen. With child. Unwed. Frightened. A child asked to give birth to a child. This fourteen year old girl must raise this child to fulfill a prophecy that demands he be destroyed. This child, the future King of Kings within the womb of a child, must be nurtured from birth to early manhood under her vigilant care; knowing he would eventually die. The consequences of her failure to raise this child quicken the anguish and torment that will follow her until his death. This fourteen year old girl was Mary, Mother of Jesus and this is her Conversation.
Within this compelling conversation, Mary will reveal her struggles and her suffering as a Mother. Each day that Jesus grew closer to manhood, he drew increasingly closer to the tyranny of destruction that awaited him. As his Mother, the daily searing revelation of his destiny inched her closer to heartbreak.
What does a Mother have to offer a child who is already promised greatness? What can she give him; that the prophecy hasn't already proclaimed? As a Mother, does she try to prevent the grievous acts the prophets have foretold?
Mary, Mother of Jesus: A Conversation will reveal her courage, her valor, her defiance and this conversation, above all, will reveal that Mary was a Mother, with the same feelings of any Mother, who wants to protect her child from unspeakable acts of peril, yet knowing there is nothing that can be done.
Until the next time,
Peaceful thoughts,
-Dorothea
