Have you seen them swarm in an open area? They almost seem impenetrable! They are extremely quiet and flutter anxiously waiting for someone or something to enter their dome of annoyance. Once you enter, it’s hard as heck to keep them away from you. They dart. They dance. They cluster. They want you and while you are in the middle of their circle they make it their mission to frustrate you.
However, what’s so strange is they don’t bite. They swarm vigorously while you are in their midst, and that is quite annoying as they flutter with excitement surrounding your face, as you attempt to swat them away. Quite frankly, it seems as if they enjoy the challenge of you trying to rid yourself of them and they seem to swarm even harder.
This experience with a group of gnats led me to my “aha” moment. Our negative thoughts are like “gnats.” They dance. They prance. They swarm. They annoy. Because of those gnats I was led to this:
Dorothea, walk away from them. They are only as distracting and annoying as I allow them to be. I’m tougher and stronger than any “negative gnat” and they won’t bother me unless I allow it!
It’s within my control, not theirs. It’s that simple!
Until the next time!
Peaceful thoughts!
