I was taking out my trash one week and was stopped by the words on my trash bin "Waste Management." I stood a few moments reflecting on the words and laughed to myself. Isn't that interesting I thought: Waste Management! You put your garbage in a bin, place it on the curb and someone is kind enough to take your waste away...never to return!
What would it feel like to be able to manage our mental waste on a daily basis. To walk to a trash can, open a lid and never see the mental waste again. All the trash that we tell ourselves and all the garbage that we allow in from others. Would that not be the greatest?
Unfortunately, there is no such magic. We have to manage our own mental waste and it at times isn't as easy as lifting a lid and turning our backs. We have to work very hard to eliminate the trash that roams our mind. It's hard work EACH and EVERY DAY!!!
However, what makes it much easier to manage is to be AWARE of the TRASH. Once you are aware of the trash...you can begin the management of it. This is the challenge for all of us! Managing our mental trash on a daily basis. It's hard. It's detailed. It requires patience. Think of our mental trash as a "hoarder." It's been there so long that when we take notice it can be overwhelming. Slow down. Take a breath. Sit still. The answers of what to throw out first will become known to you. Handle your mental trash as you handle your house trash...one bag at a time!!!
Until the next time,
Peaceful thoughts...
